I met up with Jay York on World Turtle Day to search south Georgia for Suwannee snapping turtles and other native herps like grey rat snakes, musk turtles, suwannee cooters and florida cooters, and more!
Alligator snapping turtles (Macrochelys) are a protected species, and possession in most states is prohibited by law. I hold a state DNR license to work with these turtles for educational purposes. They are not “pets”, and they are not for sale*
