The Ohio and Erie Canal was integral to the early settlement and development of industry in Akron, Ohio. There were more than a dozen locks along the canal, along with millraces and hydraulic tunnels powering the various industries. The Towpath Trail roughly follows the original route of the Ohio and Erie Canal.

There is a rich history in this area, and several informational plaques along the walk for interpretation. The trail is a multi-use trail, open to both pedestrians and bikers.

This video is an unabridged documentation of this stretch of the trail. The hike was recorded on February 19th, 2025. It was a relatively warm but partly cloudy and slightly windy day. The trail was icy and slick in parts, but still in fairly good condition.
