Ju-On: Combo Cut - HD rework (The Curse 1 & 2)

Описание: The Grudge franchise centered around Kayako, Toshio, and Takeo Saeki began it's run with the j-horror movies of Ju-On: The Curse 1 & 2, both released together in the same month of February 2000. Ju-On: The Curse 2 shares about 20-30 minutes of reused footage from The Curse 1. It's a common move to skip the repeated chapters when viewing the Curse 2. It only makes sense to combine the two into a single film.

This edit has been done before by various sources (on YouTube notably here:    • Ju On: The Curse 1 & 2 Combo Cut - English...  ) and that video's description mentions the quality of the transfer used for the edit.

I did my best to do the cleanest possible edit of Ju-On: The Curse. The films were shot on video in 1999 for v-cinema / home video in japan. Thus the quality can only be so good. I used the HD transfer from the british Arrow Video BluRay release. I re-encoded the BluRay rip into editable files without quality loss and then made sure to export with the best possible settings for the edited version. YouTube's built in compression is the first and only change in quality done to the source footage.

I also chose not to add in the two short films that came before the film. I was tempted and they make an easy insertion, but I wanted to keep the essence of the film in tact. I also made sure that the end credits include the credit cards for the segments from both the films, instead of just keeping it as the second film's credits, as the aforementioned edit did.

I also included the english subtitle translation from the Arrow Video BluRay, meaning this is a slightly different sub translation than other publications, but as Arrow created a new translation along with their HD release in 2022.
