A Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC) is a form of intellectual property that can extend the protection of patented active ingredients present in pharmaceutical or plant protection products by up to five years. In this webinar, we cover an introduction to SPCs, along with the basics of obtaining an SPC, its term and scope of protection.

Chris is a qualified European and UK patent attorney and a Partner at Dehns. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in with a degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and was awarded a PhD, also by the University of Cambridge. He works for a variety of clients from sole-inventors and small biotech companies to multinational corporations. He works with inventions from a broad range of chemical technologies including organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery formulations, diagnostic assays, medical devices, solar cells and renewable energy. He provides patent drafting, filing, international prosecution and strategic IP portfolio advice and has experience in oppositions and appeals before the EPO.
