SEED CORN HARVEST 2017

Описание: Seed corn harvest is in full swing in our area and soon it will be time to harvest corn and soybeans! We personally don't raise seed corn so this footage is from a neighbors' field. Seed corn is harvested by removing the ears and trucking them to the seed facility to be processed and bagged. Seed corn kernels are not shelled in the field allowing the ear to remain untouched until it reaches the seed facility where they are shelled there. That is why the seed corn harvesters have a conveyor and unloading cart instead of an auger and a grain tank.

Werner Farms, established in 1960, is a family farm operation based in rural Hanna, IN. The YouTube channel and social media pages are run by Keith Werner, the third generation of Werner Farms.

Werner Farms currently operates on 1,700 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and rye along with 1,000 acres of custom harvest work. The farm has no-tilled since the early 1980s and continues to increase acres of cover crops year to year. Besides the farm operation, Werner Farms has sold Pioneer Seed since the 1980s. Numerous John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm ranging from a 730 to an 8530.
