In this video you’ll learn how to draw a rose step by step using only a pencil, eraser and paper. We start with simple shapes to build the rose center, then add petals layer by layer so the flower looks natural and realistic, even for beginners.
First we sketch the rose bud (the spiral center) lightly, then we draw the outer petals with smooth curved lines. After that, we add the stem and leaves using easy leaf shapes so the whole rose drawing looks complete. I show you where to keep your lines soft and where to press a little darker for a clean outline.
When the outline is finished, we move into shading. You’ll learn how to add darker shadows inside the petals, create soft gradients on the outer petals, and shade the leaves to give your rose a simple 3D look. You can keep it as a black-and-white pencil sketch or color it later with colored pencils or markers.
