Turkish company Sintertek has been developing and manufacturing SLS equipment for ten years. The Sinterjet M60 is the first desktop device developed by the company's engineers for printing with metal powders using binder jetting technology.

First shown to the general public at the exhibition FormNext 2022, the printer created a real sensation: a unique machine has no analogues — at a price of 65,000 dollars, this compact device is the most affordable solution on the market.

With a build volume of 160 x 60 x 60 mm, the device allows printing compact models at high accuracy and speed of fifty cubic centimeters per hour. This way, the solution dramatically speeds up the production cycle while complying with high precision standards. Thanks to its size, the Sinterjet M60 can be easily installed in any workshop or laboratory.

The 3D printer requires no special power connection or gas supply, making it easy to set up and use. The Sinterjet M60 features a 5.5-inch touchscreen with an intuitive, user-friendly interface simplifying the printing process and allowing for operation in automatic mode. It is enough to download a 3D model, select the appropriate profile, and start the print job. The connectivity options include USB and Ethernet, with STL as the compatible file format.

The Sinterjet M60 has several unique features that set this device apart from competitors. One of such is the removable BuildBox module, which greatly facilitates powder handling and reduces downtime. With the BuildBox, it takes seconds to remove the finished part from the printer and load a new print job. When the printing is complete, the module with the newly printed part is placed in a curing oven.

A liquid binder is applied to the powder layer via several high-resolution 1200x1200 dpi jet heads. This makes for a smooth model surface even when printing with an increased layer height. To ensure continuous operation, the machine is equipped with a built-in jet head washing station.

Sintertek offers its customers metal powders and binders designed specifically for M60. Three types of materials are available at the moment: cobalt-chrome-molybdenum, cobalt-nickel, and 316L stainless steel, with three more metal powders — copper, Inconel, and titanium — currently under testing. In addition, the Sinterjet M60 is compatible with any powder with a D50 particle size distribution of 10 to 60 microns.

As mentioned before, the BuildBox module is removed from the printer and placed in the oven after the printing is complete. The curing process activates the binder and makes it harden, which allows the user to safely remove the part from the BuildBox and clean off any excess powder.

In the final post-processing step, the part is placed in a sintering furnace to burn off binder residue and get rid of high porosity. The part acquires the desired density and optimal mechanical properties and can be used as intended.

So, today the M60 is the first affordable device for high-precision metal printing using binder-jetting technology, with its price starting at 65 thousand dollars. For comparison, the price for devices by Desktop Metal starts from two hundred thousand dollars.
