This is one of my tests resgarding the possible damage dealt on Yiazmat by optimizing the dual job system on the upcoming The Zodiac Age.

All these tests will remain true in The Zodiac Age if the licenses and mechanics are the same as in IZJS version.

The jobs tested were:

Fran (Monk + Knight)
Whale Whisker N
Grand Helm
Brave Suit
Genji Gloves

My favorite combination for Monk, as it allow to use some of the best buffs in the game. Later Monk can make use of the massive combo rate of the Whale Whisker N with Genji Glove.

Fran have the fastest 12 combo animation with poles making her the perfect choice for combos. However, her STR growth through the whole game is bellow average and will bloom only in the last 30 levels.

Balthier (Bushi + Knight)
Masamune I
Magepower Shikak
Robe of Lords
Genji Gloves

Bushi have a lot of MAG and HP which will benefit and increase the healing power of the spells that Knight can get. Bushi also have 3 Swiftness, two more than Knight have. On the other hand Knight will provide Focus, Adrenaline and a lot of evasion through shields and high DEF heavy armor.

Masamune I is a One-handed Sword that uses Katana damage calculation, relying on both STR and MAG. Basch and Balthier have the same combo animation speed, making them both great against massive HP bosses such as Hell Wyrm, Yiazmat and others.


Basch (Shikari + Bushi)
Yagyuu Darkblade
Genji Helm or Magepower Shikak
Black Robe
Genji Gloves or Germinas Boots

This combination is the absolute Yiazmat slayer! The only combination that allow to equip Yagyu Darkblade, Black Robes and Genji Gloves at the same time.

During the game this combination can be switched between Tank/leader to a offensive unit as needed with the advantage of accessing Focus and Adrenaline while weilding Katanas.

Against Yiazmat there's no other contender, as no other weapon have both high combo rate and deal Dark damage (Yiazmat's weakness). Black robes increase Dark damage by 50% and the accessory can be either Genji Gloves for high combos or Geminas Boots for higher damage. Geminas Boots add 50 SPD which is used in Ninja blade's damage formula along with STR.

Basch, Balthier and Penelo have the same 12 combo animation Speed, but Basch beats the other two in damage.

This is not a perfect test, but should give a insight of who is the best. The line was when Penelo use Fullcure/Renew with gambit "Enemy HP less than 90% - Fullcure/Renew) or if you prefer +5 million damage dealt on Yiazmat.

3rd place (Whale Whisker N + Genji Gloves): 100 seconds
2nd place (Masamune I + Genji Gloves): 95 seconds
1st Place (Yagyuu Darkblade + Germinas Boots): 54 seconds
