In this video, I troubleshoot and finally fix my Mr. Heater Big Maxx garage heater after weeks of frustration.
It started with no error codes at all — the flame would light and then shut off after about 30 seconds or less. I replaced the flame sensor and igniter, and that seemed to fix it… but only for a few days.
Then the heater started throwing a 3-blink pressure switch code. I had already replaced the pressure switch earlier, so I moved on to replacing the blower fan, which again fixed it temporarily.
A few days later, the heater wouldn’t light at all and appeared to not be getting gas, so I replaced the gas valve as well.
After replacing:
Flame sensor
Igniter
Pressure switch
Blower fan
Gas valve
…the heater is finally running like it should.
⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
I am not a licensed plumber or electrician. This video shows what I personally did on my own heater. If you are not comfortable working with gas or electrical appliances, consult a licensed professional. Always follow manufacturer guidelines and local codes.
Hopefully this helps someone else dealing with a stubborn Big Maxx heater that just won’t stay running.
