6233 Duchess of Sutherland with Day 9 of the Great Britain XIV | Devon & Somerset | 30/04/22

Описание: Today's video was another long distance one, so strap in guys! LMS Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 No.6233 Duchess of Sutherland was in charge of Day 9 of this year's 'Great Britain' Railtour, today would see her haul the final leg from Penzance to London Victoria via Exeter, Bristol Temple Meads and Reading.

I left Birmingham New Street at 09:12, travelling to Exeter St Davids where I changed and headed to Dawlish Warren. I didn't have long to set up but just nudged into a space on the top of Langstone Rock. Unfortunately a preceding service signal checked her and then I got bowled by a 9 car Class 800 which was running 9 minutes late. Despite this, it's a beautiful location so in my eyes, was worth leaving in. I also met ‪@themodster‬ here. Then I headed up to Exeter. It's a lovely city with lots to see, even if my visit was a very quick one. A trip to Hook's Fish Bar, which was very good (maybe I should start reviewing Fish & Chip shops rather than filming trains lol), rounded off my visit.

At that I went to Tiverton Parkway, before starting the seemingly endless 30 minute walk to Pugham Farm. I set up beside the River Lyner, and this was "shot of the day" for me, as she charged along the section up to Whiteball. Running low on supplies after a walk back to Tiverton Parkway, salvation arrived in the form of the catering trolley aboard the 1S55 service to Bristol Temple Meads. Unfortunately I ended up having to do a last minute location change at Temple Meads itself resulting in a rushed shot that was worth keeping with a bit of clever editing. Then it was over to Bath Spa, where I got a really nice shot to round off the day. At that I returned to Bristol, meeting ‪@CasperTrains‬ before taking an XC HST up to New Street. The HST has an extremely smooth ride, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride home, it has to be one of the best I've ever done. A Voyager unit will throw you all over the place but an Mk.3 feels like it's gliding. All good fun. Back at New Street I met Tom ‪@WestCountrySteamVideos‬.

In all, another highly enjoyable day was had by all! Thanks for everyone's company, and all who made this possible! And yes, I did make a point of not filming the 47. Enjoy!
