SURVIVING EXTREME BLIZZARD | Wild Camping in a SNOW STORM with 55mph Winds & Heavy Snow

Описание: In this video, we venture out onto the Glyderau for a summit camp on Glyder Fawr in full winter conditions. I had camped here many times before but it seemed like a good place to camp again given the conditions we had. We parked the car at the side of the A5 and started the route up past Tryfan towards the steep scree slope next to Bristly Ridge. The snow was really loose so every time we placed a foot down, we were sliding all over the place. The views were unbelievable from the summit of Glyder Fach. Snowdonia just completely covered in a blanket of snow. We didn’t have much time so after soaking up some of the views, we headed straight for Glyder Fawr. Due to the forecast only predicting minimal snow, I purposely left my snow shovel at home which ended up being a big mistake. After finding a spot, we started to dig into the snow with our hands to clear an area for our tents which took a long time. Eventually, we settled down for the night not knowing what mother nature had in store for us in the morning. We got battered all night by heavy winds and ended up waking up to a blizzard in whiteout conditions. It looked like we were in the arctic. We had to dig the tents out of waist deep snow in 55/60mph winds which took even longer than pitching them. The forecast had predicted none of this. After about 2 hours, we were on our way back down to the car in whiteout conditions. You can easily see how people get lost in these sorts of conditions. This camp was just hard work. From navigating the steep scree slope on the way up to battling against 55/60mph winds in blizzard conditions. These were proper winter conditions and are what you need to be prepared for when heading out into the mountains. It just shows you how the forecast can be completely different.
