Diuen que ningú és profeta en la seva terra, però aquest no és el cas de Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats, que no només han aconseguit tenir el suport del Taller de Músics i centenars de mecenes a través d'un exitós crowdfunding per publicar el seu primer disc homònim, sinó que a més poden presumir d'unes extenses arrels sonores. I és que la seva peculiar barreja de swing i jazz repassa tots els clàssics del gènere: de Duke Ellington a Dorothy Fields. Una proposta que sona fresca, però també càlida gràcies a la melosa veu de Saphie i sobrada d'actitud. El boom del swing a la ciutat no ha fet més que contribuir a una revifada sonora que, lluny de limitar-se a la simple còpia, deixa gravada una identitat pròpia que a fidels del gènere i ateus, acabarà per convertir.

There's a popular saying that no one is a prophet in their own land, yet that's not Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats case. Not only they managed to publish their first record via el Taller de Músics's own label and a successful crowdfunding, but they can also be proud of their world-wide musical roots. Their particular mixture of swing and jazz looks back to all those big names: from Duke Ellington to Dorothy Fields. And they look back at the Saphie Wells & The Swing Cats. A fresh album, yet warm at once thanks to Saphie's sweet voice filled with a cool attitude. Barcelona's swing boom has helped also to this revival of the genre that, far from trying just to copy the legends, have found some room to express their own identity. A band that will end up converting swing and jazz followers and those who thought weren't a believers.
