Design mode Query by Example hast two sections:
Upper section contains tables upon query is based
Lower section contains fields in query

SQL view shows the SQL code generated automatically by Access for the query. You can modify the SQL code.

Sorting tip:
Access sorts for left to right
Divide the fields in two parts:
--- First part are fields that are shown
--- Second lists the fields in required sorting order
