It is serious. The original bolts are too small in size in relation to the hole in the exhaust camshaft variator and unscrew themselves. So they do not have thread locker. Only those now offered at the ASO have thread locker and are of the right size. The video shows how to avoid problems with this engine. It is better to act preventively because the damage from a damaged timing belt can be drastic. This is a manufacturing defect, an engineering problem and QC. The iformation in VW's internal system "Erwin" about this defect appeared in June 2020. But VW did nothing about it. As they say, strength in numbers.
