Conquering Gooseberry

Описание: Gooseberry Hill, located immediately to the south of Dunolly has long been a popular location for railfans with a nice 1 in 50 climb facing up trains coming from points further north.

Up until the Murray Basin Rail Project this wasn't as much of a hindrance as up trains would use the centre road through Dunolly and could make a good run-up at the climb, however the conversion of the centre road to SG along with the gauge transfer immediately at the bottom of the hill as part of the MBRP suddenly meant that all trains were restricted to 15kph through that section and with the lack of a proper run-up the climb became a lot more interesting from an audio standpoint with the locos on trains making the climb now having to work even harder for it.

So here's a bit over an hours worth of footage from the last six or so years of various freight and heritage passenger trains all trying their hand at the 1 in 50, some doing it with greater ease than others. There's also a couple of down trains featured on the south side of the hill, though with these not actually working very hard having descended from Bet Bet there's only a couple of those thrown in.
