Kids love dinosaurs? Here's a fun project. Have them excavate a dinosaur egg to get at the plastic dinosaur inside. This project is a multi-night project, which the kids can do independently, though it is quite messy (the egg is made of plaster).
Still, the kids enjoyed it, and it teaches perseverance and stick-to-itiveness.
