He also emphasized the growing importance of research, highlighting the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship, the National Research Foundation, the Research Development and Innovation Scheme and a ₹1 lakh crore funding provision for research. In a message to graduating students, PM Modi urged them not to compare their careers or achievements with others, saying that “life is not a leaderboard” and that their real competition is with themselves. He encouraged IIT Delhi graduates to keep learning, question established ideas, solve difficult problems and use their talent and innovation to contribute to India's future.
