In a ranked showdown between the #5 Fort Pierce Central Cobras and the #6 Spanish River Sharks, fans were treated to an overtime classic in Palm Beach County flag football.
Fort Pierce Central jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead, but Spanish River battled back and tied the game early in the fourth quarter. The Cobras appeared to have a chance to win at the end of regulation, but a receiver was ruled out of bounds in the end zone, sending the game to overtime.
In a dramatic twist, freshman quarterback Ashley Knapp had led the Sharks throughout regulation. But for overtime, Head Coach Drew Immler turned to senior quarterback Brooke Eriksson — and the move paid off. Eriksson delivered the game-winning touchdown pass to Kayleigh Wallace on just the second play of overtime to secure the 19-13 victory.
