One of my biggest musical heroes Peter Green sadly passed away yesterday. I was introduced to his music through my Dad’s record collection when I was a little boy and I fell in love with it from day one. He is still one of my biggest influences and favourite musicians to this day.
I never met him but I’ve spent so much time listening to his music in my life, the sound of his guitar playing, his singing and his songwriting are so familiar to me it felt like a friend had passed away. Not many people have had such a profound effect on my life as he has.
We’ve been paying tribute to him on most of our live shows for many years now so I’ve dug this video out from one of our last gigs before lockdown earlier this year. It features two tunes he recorded with Fleetwood Mac. The first is called Rollin’ Man which was on their 2nd album and that leads into one of his most well known recordings Need Your Love So Bad.
It was recorded at The Crich Glebe Field Centre, Derbyshire and features Simon J Smith on the bass and Shane Dixon on drums.
