Today, the Word leads us to a profound reflection on human choices, their consequences, and the silent, yet powerful, action of the Kingdom of God. Through the First Reading, taken from the Second Book of Samuel (11:1–4a, 5–10a, 13–17), and the Gospel according to Mark (4:26–34), we are invited to examine the human heart and, at the same time, to trust in God's patient and transformative work in our lives.

First Reading (2 Samuel 11:1–4a, 5–10a, 13–17):
In this passage, we follow one of the most delicate episodes in the history of King David. While remaining in Jerusalem while his soldiers were in battle, David yields to temptation, begins a series of wrong choices, and ends up causing the death of Uriah. The narrative reveals how sin, when not recognized and interrupted, generates serious consequences and affects other people. This reading invites us to reflect on personal responsibility, inner vigilance, and the need for sincere conversion, reminding us that not even God's greatest chosen ones are immune to falls when they stray from His will.

Gospel (Mark 4:26–34):
In the Gospel, Jesus presents the parables of the seed that grows by itself and the mustard seed to speak of the Kingdom of God. He teaches us that the Kingdom grows discreetly, often imperceptibly to human eyes, but with an inner strength that comes from God himself. Even starting small, like a mustard seed, the Kingdom becomes large and welcoming. This message calls us to trust, patience, and hope, reminding us that God acts at the right time, even when we do not immediately perceive the fruits.

These readings present us with a strong contrast: on the one hand, the consequences of turning away from God; on the other, the certainty that the Kingdom grows when we trust and cooperate with His grace. May we watch over our hearts, seek daily conversion, and trust in God's silent yet effective action in our lives.
