Pickle Point, Malpeque Bay and Raspberry Point are just three of the many regions of Prince Edward Island where the world famous and delectable oysters are harvested. No matter where you go in PEI, you are never more than 20 kilometers from the sea and that helps explain why PEI has such a reputation for delectable seafood. Affordable and plentiful, people from far and wide indulge in lobster, crab, oysters, clams, mussels, fish and chips, and many other kinds of seafood that are all found in the waters surrounding PEI. Whether you buy it and cook it up yourself on the beach or you visit one of the many wonderful restaurants around the island, your taste buds are in for a treat.
During our visit to the 'Gentle Island' we had the privileged of visiting Fishbones Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill for a taste of their island oysters and a lesson in shucking. Located on the bustling Victoria Row area in downtown Charlottetown, there was a band playing in the band shell across the street and loads of happy tourists and locals meandering up and down the street. It was the perfect setting for a beer and a few plates of delicious oysters.
Before enjoying this delicacy, we were given a lesson on how to properly 'shuck' an oyster. Making it look easier than it really is, Genelle walked us through the steps of getting the oyster open and arranging them on a plate. It was painful having to wait to taste all that goodness, but when we finally sat down on the outdoor patio, the taste was worth the wait -- Heavenly!

Like the old English saying goes... 'Don't eat any oysters unless there is an R in the month'
