NOTE: This is an Italian version of a beautiful German tango written by Austrian pop-music and operetta composer Robert Stolz for the German musical movie “Ein Tango für dich” [A Tango For You; dir. by Géza von Bolváry with Willy Forst anf Fee Malten]. I think this hit is very well performed by fabulous Italian dance orchestra led by Stefano Ferruzzi as well as Crivel - one of the most popular Italian pop singers of the 1920/30 (b. Fernando Crivelli in Milano, 1889 – d. in Milano 1960). Ferruzzi’s dance band started recording in a small record company in 1924 as Orchestra Tzigana Stafano Ferruzzi, but a year later it appears on distinguished labels Pathé Actuelle and Odeon simply as Stefano Ferruzi’s Dance Band. In the 1920s and 1930s he continued establishing his band’s position as one of the best Italian dance orchestras, in the Swing era he released many very good jazz renditions. During the 1930s Crivel often sung with Ferruzzi’s band, however his weakness for Mussolini’s regime and many pro-fascist recordings he waxed in that time broke artistic career of that remarkable singer. After the 2nd World War he never regained his popularity.
