Join us on a scenic and history-filled day as we explore Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia — where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers meet and American history comes alive.

We started our journey by checking into the cozy Harper’s Ferry Adventure Center cabin, enjoying some pre-prepared homemade pasta before setting off to explore!
Just a short 10-minute drive brought us to Shenandoah Pulp Mill, where we admired the aged stone walls and remnants of an old industrial era.

From there, our day unfolded through some of Harper’s Ferry’s most iconic spots:
🍦 A quick treat stop for ice cream and milkshakes
🏛️ A visit to John Brown’s Fort, the site of the 1859 raid that helped spark the Civil War
🌉 A breathtaking walk across the Harpers Ferry Footbridge, overlooking train tracks on one side and the Potomac River on the other
💧 Family time by the riverbank — shell collecting, wading in shallow waters, and soaking in nature
🔫 Exploring the historic U.S. Armory site, where nearly 15,000 weapons were lost in 1861
⛪ A beautiful hike up to St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and the ruins of St. John’s Episcopal Church
🪨 A climb to Jefferson Rock, where Thomas Jefferson once stood and declared the view “worth a voyage across the Atlantic”
🍬 A sweet stop at the Harpers Ferry Confectionery for fudge and candy nostalgia

We ended our day back at the cabin, grilling marinated meats and shrimp, enjoying a cozy bonfire, roasting marshmallows, and watching a nearby wedding celebration light up the night.
