Fantastic collection of bayonets collected by retired US Army Trauma Surgeon, Colonel Peter Kilburn. Col. Kilburn has contributed to several bayonet books, and many of the bayonets in his collection are featured in these books. The Bayonets in this video were all sold at auction.

The collection included German Ersatz bayonets, K98 bayonets, artillery bayonets, plug bayonets, socket bayonets, sword bayonets, multipurpose bayonets (including trowel bayonets), ceremonial/parade bayonets, toy bayonets, and prototype bayonets. This collection had over 750 bayonets in it (many with their original scabbard). The bayonet collection also contained frogs.

Col. Kilburn was interested in collecting swords when he was a boy, but found them to be out of his price range. He noticed that bayonets were much more affordable than swords so he began collecting them instead. At the time, there were not many books about bayonets or collecting bayonets, so they were not as easy to identify. Col. Kilburn spent 62 years collecting his bayonets , and studying them.
