Very heavy transport of 363 tonnes escorted by police; transformer abnormal load

Описание: A 363 tonne transport travels by road under police escort as it makes its way out of Wisbech and on into Norfolk. At over 60 metres long and 4 metres wide, the abnormal load had to take a complicated route to avoid a narrow bridge and weight restrictions.

Allelys transported the transformer cradled within an AL50 girder frame trailer, pulled and pushed by two MAN TGX tractors. The combination totalled 63 metres in length with a total weight of 363 tonnes. The load itself weighed 164 tonnes. The transformer was being transported to the Walpole Grid Stability Facility from the Port of Sutton Bridge.

Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and Lincolnshire Police Roads Policing Units escorted the wide load from Sutton Bridge to Walpole via Freedom Bridge in Wisbech. Several police cars and motorcycles were used to shut down roads as the oversized load moved. Manchetts were on standby with a recovery vehicle to move any cars blocking the route.
