An organic waste management strategy in the city of Kochi, India

Описание: The GIZ global project “Support of the Export Initiative Environmental Protection” contributes to solving key environmental problems on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (BMUV).

The project Management of Organic Waste in India strives to improve procedures for the sustainable management of organic waste in the selected cities of Kanpur, Kochi, and Port Blair, in states, and at the national level in India.

The BMUV Export Initiative aims to export know-how available in Germany and support sustainable development worldwide. It includes topics such as poor waste management, air and water pollution or supporting infrastructures for sustainable urban development. Partner countries are Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, India and Ukraine. Project measures focus on building up technical and institutional know-how as well as laying the groundwork for the introduction and use of environmental and climate protection technologies “Made in Germany”.

The projects contribute to the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) and focus on knowledge transfer, pilot projects, sustainable business models, capacity building, environmental education and awareness raising. The supported activities are embedded in the national strategies of the partner countries.
