The electro-encephalo-gram (EEG), an electrical potential between specific locations on the scalp, reflects the brain activity of an individual, such as sleep. Whilst traditional on-scalp brain monitoring is time-consuming to set-up and cumbersome to wear, the in-ear sensor is readily wearable, and does not require
any training to use. The in-ear sensing technology opens up a brand new avenue in fully wearable 24/7 brain monitoring technology which is practical for use in the real world. Takashi is a Ph.D. student in signal processing at Imperial College London. His postgraduate studies, funded by the Nakajima Foundation, focus on research in brain-computer interface and signal processing for cognitive neuroscience.
Takashi’s talk will explore the possibilities of an in-ear EEG, enabling 24/7 brain monitoring and the future potential uses of this technology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
