Sri Isopanishad Invocation mantra describes the Lord as perfect and complete in all respects. All His creations and emanations from Him are also perfect and complete. Even though innumerable creations emanate from Him, the Supreme Lord remains perfect and complete.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 1 describes the relationship of the Lord with living entities. It says that everything animate and inanimate in this creation are owned by the Lord. The living entities should accept only those things as set aside by Him as their quota and be satisfied. This is called isavasya consciousness.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 2 says that those who follow the isavasya concept get liberation from this material pangs of life.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 3 says that those who do not follow isavasya concept of life are sent to the darkest region of ignorance.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 4 to 8 describes the inconceivable potencies of the Lord which can be understood by the Maha-Bhagavata and not by everybody. There are descriptions of the qualities of the maha-bhagavata.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 4 describes the Lord as beyond this material calculations. Hence the Lord can be understood by the mercy of the Lord. The Lord mercifully gives vision to the sincere devotees by which they can understand Him.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 5 describes further qualities of the Maha-bhagavata.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 6 and 7 describes the qualities of Maha-bhagavata which enable them to see Krishna everywhere.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 8 desires the qualities of the supreme Lord Krishna from the perspective of the Maha-bhagavata.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 9 to 11 discuss knowledge and ignorance, how to cultivate them and the results thereof.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 9 describes two kinds of people, the ignorant and the vedavadaratas, who lack knowledge of Krishna. As a result they disregard the proprietorship of Krishna and hence are thrown into the darkest region of ignorance.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 10 emphasises that cultivation of true and false knowledge have different results. One should consult a dhira purusha to understand true knowledge and maya.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 11 describes the process of understanding the relative position of true material and spiritual knowledge and attain liberation.
Sri Isopanishad mantra 12 to 14 compares the worship of the Supreme Lord with others.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 12 says that worshipping asambhuti or the dependent demigods lead one to the darkest region of ignorance. It is even more dangerous to worship the Supreme as an Impersonal Brahman. The Mantra emphasises that the Supreme Absolute Truth is a person and is the ultimate truth.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 13 strongly refutes the argument by the false religious propagandists that all paths lead to the same Supreme Lord. The mantra clearly states that the results of worshipping the Supreme and others are entirely different.
Sri Isopanishad Mantra 14 says that to enter into the kingdom of God, one must be able to clearly distinguish between matter and spirit. One should understand the spiritual world and its inhabitants. At the same time one should endeavor to study the material nature and the inhabitants.
Overview of the last section of Sri Isopanisad mantra 15 to 18:
In this section of Sri Isopanishad describe the prayers by the devotee for revelation of the spiritual form of the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna.
Mantra 15 emphasizes that it is important to understand the Lord in relation to His spiritual energies, the Brahma-jyoti. This will lead to perfect realisation. The living entity pray for this to the Lord which is continued in Sri Isopanishad mantra16.
In Sri Isopanishad mantra 17 the living entity prays to the Lord to remember Him at the time of death. The ultimate goal of all devotional service is to remember the Lord at the time of death.
Sri Isopanisad describes that the purpose of this human life is to attain Krishna. The jiva in this human form can perform devotional service for this purpose. And even for doing this we need the mercy of the Lord.
It is also important to remember the lord at the time of death. Krishna says in Gita that if we remember Him at the time of death, we can attain Him (BG 8.5) the Isopanisad is reminding us to pray to the Lord for His mercy to remember Him at the time of death.
