The webinar "What is a pig" was organized by EURCAW-Pigs on December 1, 2025. Central topic was the understanding of the natural behaviours of pigs, also called species-specific behaviours, being essential for ensuring pig welfare on farms. The webinar was specifically designed for National Competent Authorities and state veterinary inspectors.
In this video Prof. Lene Juul Pedersen from Aarhus University, Denmark, first gives an introduction into the webinar and topics. This is followed by a presentation on "Foraging, resting, and thermoregulation, by Dr. Antje Schubbert, Friedrich-Loeffler Institute, Germany.
