“STEM Passport is really effective in showing that STEM is for everyone and that there is a possible STEM career for everyone.”
That’s the main message from Ms Ralph of Holy Family Community School in Rathcoole as she reflects on her school’s participation in the STEM Passport for Inclusion programme – a joint initiative by Maynooth University, Microsoft Ireland, Taighde Éireann-Research Ireland and the Department of Education.
Having initially sent forward 12 girls to participate in the initiative, STEM Passport is now a core part of the school’s Transition Year programme.
With the support of the Microsoft Dream Space team and the mentoring provided through the programme, Ms Ralph has seen her students grow in confidence and be inspired by the career opportunities that STEM can unlock.
