Описание: In a major setback to anti-dam activists, the Supreme Court cleared the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River in Gujarat asking authorities to seek clearance from environmental and Rehabilitation bodies. Medha Patkar spearheading the Narmada Bachao Andalon for years described the court verdict as anti-people and a virtual surrender to the powerbrokers.

However TR Ramcharan, then political editor of The Tribune seems to have a different view on the protests from some sections of the society over the environmental and rehabilitation issues of the affected.
