Changing the gearbox oil on a Mk7 Ford Fiesta
If you are in the USA, you may ask about changing transmission oil.
If you read online, it will say that Ford Fiesta Mk7 cars have a sealed gearbox with no drain plug.
Therefore you cannot drain the gearbox oil.
There is however, a fill plug on the gearbox.
So I am going to show you how to change the gearbox oil on a Ford fiesta Mk7.
All you will need are the following tools
Car Jack
Axle Stands
Wheel Chocks
8mm Hex key
Allen Key
Spirit level
Syringe
Rubber tubing
When I removed the fill plug to top up the gearbox oil on a Ford Fiesta, I was surprised to find there was very little oil in the gearbox.
Reason I checked was the following symptoms:
Stiff gear selection
Difficult selecting gears
Trouble changing gear
If you want to know what oil you should put into a Ford Fiesta Mk7, I use Castrol Transmax Manual 75W FE.
You could remove gearbox oil from a Ford Fiesta Mk7 gearbox using a syphon method. I used a 1 litre syringe and rubber tubing to fill fresh gear box oil but you could use the same method to remove old gearbox oil.
This is a beginners guide to changing gearbox oil so anyone can do it with some simple hand tools.
