What are your mental habits and how are you shaping the future inclinations of your mind? It’s said that on average we produce between 12,000 and 70,000 thoughts in one single day! That's about 15 million thoughts a year! That’s a lot of thoughts! How often is your thinking just repeated patterns of the same thoughts you've replayed countless times before?
In this talk Anandavajra explores the conditions and consequences of what in Buddhism is known as prapanca - those habitual and often destructive trains of thought that serve only to keep us living out small and constricted versions of our lives. Most importantly he looks at very simple and practical ways that we can cultivate more wholesome ways of being, which in turn can lead to our growth and the fulfilment of our potential.
About Dharmachari Anandavajra:
Anandavajra has been ordained into the international Triratna Buddhist Order for over 17 years and spent 10 years working for the former Buddhist Team Beased Right Livelihood business, 'Windhorse:Evolution' in Cambridge. Whilst in Cambridge he lived in mens Buddhist residential communities. He is currently living in London with his wife and working for ‘The Psychosynthesis Trust’, a psychotherapy training organisation with a transcendental perspective. He teaches a weekly Dharma study course in Hertford and has recently completed teaching a mindfulness course at the North London Buddhist Centre.
