Simulation of reservoir scour pipe discharge by OpenFOAM at flow of Q = 90 m3/s (Penstock 60% open).
Simulation is carried out under the following conditions.
The energy dissipation is by flip bucket spillway
Radius of curvature of the uplift = 10m
Diameter of scour pipe = 2.5m
Maximum speed in simulation around 22 m/s (almost 80 km/h)
During actual site operation of this spillway (Penstock 60% open), water flows smoothly over the spillway similar to the simulation results.
