12 F-22 Raptors from Elmendorf AFB (Alaska) flew into RAF Lakenheath on Wednesday evening 6th August, these aircraft then departed Lakenheath on Thursday 8th on the way to the Middle East. As I arrived at Lakenheath around 7am the place was swarming with aviation enthusiasts many who have travelled from far and wide to witness these aircraft depart. Luckily for me the aircraft were late departing due to issues with the tanker support, so a mad dash from the car, ladders in hand and a mad dash to find a spot I just managed to film the first 7 aircraft depart. The first 7 aircraft Trend 71-77 launched at 07-10. One aircraft returned at 07-55. The next batch of aircraft departed around 07-38. All of this happening as the based F15E and F35 flew missions of there own.
