Here's another political chant from the Cod Wars, when the Icelandic nation fought a series of skirmishes against the British coast guard to assert its right to its fishing waters in the North Atlantic.
Most of Ómar Ragnarsson's large catalogue of work has been well documented and preserved, but this is an oddity that seems to have fallen between the cracks.
Ómar's lyrics are humorous, making fun of the British for needing battleships to fish their cod and shouting that the Icelandic fishing jurisdiction should be extended to 200 miles off the coast, which eventually became the result of the Cod Wars.
The song is written by Ómar himself, and arranged by Jón Sigurðsson, who made a lot of these groovy arrangments for the label SG Hljómplötur at the time.
