Before Donita Rose became the face of MTV Asia, there was Nonie Tao or just simply Nonie. One of the OG VJ's in 1992, she took in requests via elaborately-designed snail mail on "Most Wanted" (much like Donita several years later) and continued to do the role on its ChannelV counterpart "By Demand" when Viacom pulled out the MTV name and forcing StarTV to rebrand.
Nonie's reign was short-lived, relinquishing her hosting job to become a mother in 1996 and thus pre-dating the blocktime arrangements with local channels that would make MTV/Channel V more known to casuals. That's why even your more seasoned tita or tito probably wouldn't recognize her. Still, I was grinning ear to ear when I came across this tape as I had flashbacks to my early childhood and cable TV in its infancy.
Melanie Casul (our first Filipino VJ) also makes an appearance to translate "Sigaw" for her.
