Sure, protein fills you up. It also helps you build and maintain muscle, which helps prevent weakness, falls, and other health concerns related to aging. Studies also show that high-protein diets can help you lose weight — think about the Atkins Diet. But such short-term result is nothing compared to the high saturated fat and high calories in high-protein foods that increase the risk of heart disease and obesity.
