Experience Walt Disney’s historic first-ever television appearance from Christmas Day, 1950, beautifully remastered in 4K! This rare footage has been carefully curated to highlight Disney’s magical moments, including appearances that were deleted in later releases.
While the original program, One Hour in Wonderland, was an hour-long, this special presentation is under 15 minutes and focuses solely on Walt Disney’s appearances alongside his daughters, Diane (17 years old at the time) and Sharon (14 years old). Their charming presence is included, except for a scene featuring a Coca-Cola product due to sponsorship considerations.
The entire Firehouse Five Plus Two performance is also preserved in this edition! The legendary jazz band includes Disney’s “Nine Old Men” animators Ward Kimball (on trombone) and Frank Thomas (on piano), capturing their incredible versatility as artists and musicians.
This presentation also showcases two beautifully animated sequences:
1. A scene from Song of the South (1946), featuring some of Master Animator Milt Kahl’s finest character animation work. Kahl, one of Disney’s most celebrated animators, contributed significantly to the studio’s golden age, bringing unparalleled finesse to his character designs.
2. The Marching Cards sequence from Alice in Wonderland (1951), animated by the underrated yet brilliant Wetzel Orson “Judge” Whitaker (1908–1985). Whitaker’s attention to detail and mastery over frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation make this sequence a standout in Disney’s history.
Marvel at the artistry of these animators who worked without the aid of computers, crafting each frame with extraordinary skill and dedication.
