In search for food, this Pueo soars looking for movement within the grasslands of Mauna Kea for mice, rats, insects or even small birds.
Pueo are diurnal and hunt during the day, usually in the mornings and late afternoons. You can often see them perched on fence posts, high branches overlooking meadows or pastures where they rest between hunts.
