Once upon a time parody films like Airplane!, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, and even Scary Movie 3 understood how comedy works. Timing, escalation, visual gags, and clever writing made those movies ridiculous in the best possible way.

But based on the trailer, Scary Movie 6 seems to be digging up the same tired formula that parody films have been using since the early 2000s: reference a horror movie, say something crude, and hope the audience laughs simply because someone said something inappropriate.

Jason breaks down why offensive humor isn’t the problem—lazy humor is. Comedy that pushes boundaries can be brilliant when it’s smart and well-constructed. But if the entire joke is just “look how offensive this is,” then the result isn’t edgy… it’s boring.

The rant also defends Scary Movie 3 as the best entry in the franchise, highlighting the performances of Anna Faris, Regina King, Leslie Nielsen, and Charlie Sheen, and explaining why those jokes actually worked.

Because parody deserves better than a recycled joke from 2003.

Maybe Scary Movie 6 will surprise us.

But based on the trailer?
This feels less like a comeback… and more like lazy comedy.
