A common question of Florence visitors is where to get the best city panorama, from the top of the dome of the Duomo, or the top of the bell tower? I’ve climbed both (you can find the dome report over on    • Climbing the Duomo in Florence  ) and for most, I suggest the bell tower. Not only is it more scalable for different abilities, it’s also higher and has stunning views. Tickets are usually available a few days ahead, rather than the duomo which books out weeks ahead.
