The fire has since been “largely contained,” said Antoine Daher, president of the environment council of Qoubaiyat, But there are some areas where the fire is still out of control. “The ones [areas] with a rough surface and which are hardly reached,” Daher said.

Dr. Maya Nehme. Maya joined the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative in 2011 and is currently the LRI Director. She holds a Dual Title PHD in Entomology and Comparative and International Education from Penn State University. Also holds a PMP certification. We work on building resilient communities to environmental threats, increasing environmental awareness and education, advocating for forest conservation, and advancing research in the forestry field.
