The only lore-friendly Pip-Boy 2000 mod available for any Fallout game... well, except, uh, Fallout: The Frontier, but we don't talk about that mod. This one's properly wrist-mounted, unlike the fan misconception that it's handheld; it never was, the first two games themselves even make allusions to it being wrist-mounted. Law of conservation of detail is in effect, which is why you can't see it on your sprite in those games.
This video showcases the initial pickup in Vault 111 - unique among Pip-Boy replacers, this one actually has a custom pickup animation!
I actually edited this video very, very slightly to improve presentation a bit. Hopefully, YouTube's compression and whatnot doesn't make this video look horrid; it usually does.
Also, as a final note, it's clear that my setup is heavily modded right from the word 'go'. Please don't ask me for my modlist; I cannot provide it even if I wanted to. Many mods are experimental, or I've made my own edits to them, or aren't even publicly available.
