NAIT Alternative Energy program installs solar on Edmonton school's roof

Teachers and students at Edmonton’s Hillview Elementary School have a powerful new learning tool above their heads: a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic (PV) array designed and installed on the building’s roof by students in the Alternative Energy Technology program.

The 64.8-foot, custom-built panel, mounted in October 2015, is part of the Hillview School Solar Project – a collaborative effort conceived by school staff, commissioned by the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) and funded by the City of Edmonton through a $26,000 EcoCity Edmonton community grant, piloted as the Neighbourhood Action Program in 2014.
