Why work as a travelling occupational therapist?

I had been working as a therapist for about two years and had been in a rehab hospital just doing the normal typical Monday through Friday, eight to five kind of thing, and had been working with a PT who was a travel physical therapist, and I had never heard of such a thing. I had reached out to her company that she works for. She had taken the time to share with me about what travel therapy looks like and really encouraged me to look into it.

As a travel occupational therapist, you have a lot more freedom with not just your professional experiences, where you want to work, what setting you want to experiment in, but also what you want your personal life to look at. Do you want to work in a busy hospital setting? Do you want to learn more about outpatient therapy?

I’ve worked in rehab, in hospitals, home health, a little bit into, basically almost everything in my time. It’s by design, it was my choice to work in all of those settings. You can be a little bit more consistent if that’s what’s important to you, but for me the diversity was really important. So, yeah, I’ve been all over the place.
