Dear Schools/Programs of the Deaf,
We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Flying Hands ASL Literary competition. Please read this letter carefully for this year’s competition categories, rules and plans.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will have a Plan A and Plan B:
Currently the plan is to proceed with Plan A. If anything changes, we will communicate that with you.
Plan A:
Each school will choose their top 1-2 performers for each category/each grade. In Plan A, those performers will qualify to come to WSD and perform on stage in-person. All performers will receive a T-shirt, participant medal, and winners will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals. Only performers and accompanying staff may come to WSD. We will livestream the event so that fans can watch from their school.
Plan B:
Each school will choose their top 1 or 2 performers in each category/each grade. In Plan B, the school will submit film of the student’s work to WSD. We will not host an in-person competition, instead, we will post the winning student videos on WSD’s Facebook page. We will ship T-shirts and participant medals to everyone as well as winning medals.
For both Plan A and B, we will have judges choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each category in each grade. Here are the rules for each category:
