This media briefing marks the release of Pathways and Priorities in California’s Healthcare Workforce: Insights from Black Women and Latinas, a new report commissioned by Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) and Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA). The report examines the growing demand for healthcare professionals while highlighting the persistent barriers that continue to limit representation of Black women and Latinas across healthcare fields.
In this briefing, researchers and organizational leaders share key findings from a statewide survey of 800 respondents and focus group insights that center the experiences of Black women and Latinas pursuing or considering careers in healthcare. The conversation explores the structural challenges shaping access to education, training, and career advancement and identifies opportunities to strengthen the healthcare workforce by supporting the aspirations and pathways of Black women and Latinas.
