I spent a bit of time when I could recently scouring some of the more unusual areas of the spectrum in the hope of capturing some of the more interesting aviation stuff.
We'd had several Australian Army Aviation assets present undertaking some of their annual Counter-Terrorism Training around various parts of Melbourne in addition to some other areas around Victoria.
Using several SDR devices with multiple bandscope instances I'd look for possibilties then tune in with my radios on those possible frequencies and see what I'd get. One of the successful hits was located on 261.7MHz AM.
On this evening in particular I found them operating in the bay area with RESCUE 330, the AMSA CL60 workking out of Essendon Airport. Whilst the Australian Army Aviation MRH90's, of 171st Special Operations Aviation Squadron (171 SOAS) , had been operating from RAAF Point Cook whilst down from Luscombe Army Airfield situated at Holsworthy Barracks in New South Wales.
The MRH90 Taipans were undertaking some maritime interdiction & boarding activities at the time of the recording with a local ferry service providing the target platform.
