Kings Camp is a private and luxurious game lodge located in South Africa's Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. The area around Kings Camp is some of the most beautiful bushveld in the Lowveld and is home to a massive variety of animals, including the Big Five.

On the 1st of June 2023, Kings Camp opened a brand new and incredible underground hide, The Kings Warren. It was named after the camp's general manager, Warren Moore, who has called Kings Camp home for the past 28 years. The underground hide was his brainchild and, together with his son, Cathan, they planned its design perfectly! Cathan is a very talented young wildlife photographer who has amassed a huge following on Instagram where he goes by the name @bush_maniac.

I had the privilege of spending some time with Cathan and Warren in the underground hide when I visited Kings Camp to film this video. The goal of this video is to give you a better idea of what to expect from The Kings Warren underground hide, focussing on its location, shape, design, interior, etc.

The hide lies right on the edge of Kings Camp and overlooks a man-made waterhole that has been there for years, which means the animals are already used to drinking there. With reed beds on either side and plenty of fish and frogs in the water, the waterhole also attracts a massive vary of birds, as you'll see in the video. Because it faces south-east, the light is great for photography both in the mornings and the afternoons. I'm sure that wildlife photographers that spend some time in this underground hide will get some amazing photographs, especially during the late dry season.
